FAMILY PLURALITY, PARENTHOOD AND CONJUGALITY: CONTEMPORARY HUMAN RIGHTS PERSPECTIVES
This symposium proposes a debate on family plurality, conjugal relationships and contemporary parental relationships in light of human rights, especially the principles of equality, liberty and human dignity. It seeks to explore how social, cultural and legal transformations have shaped new forms of family, conjugal and parental constitution, analyzing challenges, advances and contemporary perspectives in different social and normative contexts.
The first line of discussion focuses on the plurality of family arrangements and the transformations of conjugal relationships, moving beyond traditionally recognized models. The proposal is to examine the various forms of family organization and conjugality present today, as well as their processes of legal and social recognition, highlighting achievements, tensions and challenges related to the realization of human rights within family relationships.
The second line of discussion turns to the transformations of parental relationships, their foundations and challenges. Issues such as multiparenthood, coparenting, socio-affective parenthood, assisted human reproduction, and the impacts of these new conceptions on the protection of parental relationships will be discussed. In addition, the contemporary challenges of exercising parental authority amid technological and digital transformations will be addressed, with emphasis on topics such as digital abandonment, sharenting, and the protection of the rights of children and adolescents in digital environments.
The proposed discussions adopt a multidisciplinary approach, encouraging readings of the topic from the perspectives of Law, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Anthropology and other related fields, in order to foster dialogue among different theoretical and methodological frameworks.
In this way, the symposium seeks to ensure a plurality of topics, approaches and analytical perspectives, addressing the diversity of scientific fields covered by the Congress and encouraging comparative reflections on the transformations of families and affective relationships across the Americas.
Thus, this symposium aims to contribute to deepening the study of human rights, promoting a space for academic and interdisciplinary reflection on new family configurations, transformations in conjugality and parenthood, and their implications for promoting equality, liberty, human dignity and comprehensive protection within contemporary family relationships.
