Receive the warmest welcome to the 59th edition of the International Congress of Americanists (ICA), which will be held between July 5 and 9, 2027 at the facilities of the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB). This Congress, with the support of the Mayor’s Office of the Special District of Science, Technology and Innovation of Medellín, demonstrates UPB’s commitment to scientific advancement and social, urban and educational transformation.

The Congress offers spaces for the participation of young researchers (under 30 years of age), especially undergraduate and master’s degree students interested in studies on the Americas. The presence of new generations is key to strengthening global Americanism, fostering intergenerational dialogue, and promoting intellectual research and production.

Thematic areas

Its objective is to cover the thematic variety and the diversity of analytical approaches to Americanist studies. They will be represented by a scientific committee with proportional participation of each of the areas. This committee will be in charge of evaluating and approving the proposals for symposia received and the books published. The proposed areas are as follows:

Structure

The 59th Young ICA will be carried out through sessions in which each student will present their individual presentation.

Individual Presentations

CRITERIA

  • They must be presented in accordance with the related symposia in each area.
  • The call will be open from August 3 to January 31, 2027.
  • They will be evaluated by the 59th ICA Youth Committee.
  • They can be presented by up to 2 authors. Each must register on the platform and pay registration fee independently.
  • Once their presentation summaries are admitted, participants will have a period of one month to pay their registration fee.
  • The 59th Youth ICA Committee will group the individual presentations into sessions, according to their theme. This committee will also serve as coordinators of the sessions.
  • In the case of presenting your presentation in the poster mode, you will have 10 minutes.

Official Languages Of Congress

Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, German, and Italian, with the addition, in each case, of the language of the country in which the session is held.

Participation modalities

Face-to-face: Between July 6 and 9, 2027.

Virtual: Parallel sessions through the Teams platform between July 6 and 9, 2027.
