EDUCATIONAL INNOVATION: CHALLENGES, EXPERIENCES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE LEARNING OF THE FUTURE
Contemporary education faces the challenge of responding to social, cultural, technological and labor contexts in permanent transformation. In this scenario, educational innovation is positioned as a strategic process for rethinking ways of teaching and learning, promoting relevant, inclusive, flexible and person-centered learning experiences.
Educational innovation therefore transcends the incorporation of tools or technologies and transmission-based approaches to knowledge. It implies the transformation of pedagogical practices, the redesign of learning experiences, the implementation of active methodologies, the strengthening of assessment for learning, the integration of digital resources with pedagogical purpose, and the creation of educational environments that foster participation, autonomy, and the competencies needed for the twenty-first century.
Accordingly, the pedagogical integration of technologies constitutes an opportunity to expand educational possibilities—for example, artificial intelligence, learning analytics, extended reality, educational robotics, virtual environments, among others—which drive innovation when used critically and ethically. However, this is not enough; educational transformation depends primarily on the capacities and competencies of the educational agents who design innovative solutions for real challenges.
Likewise, educational innovation requires spaces for reflection, collaboration and the exchange of experiences that generate collective knowledge and consolidate communities working toward continuous improvement, expanding the impact of innovations, and contributing to educational transformation.
In this sense, the symposium “Educational Innovation: Challenges, Experiences and Opportunities for the Learning of the Future” aims to bring together researchers, teachers, administrators, graduate students, experts, leaders of the educational ecosystem, decision-makers in the education sector, and education professionals interested in connecting, analyzing, sharing and debating innovative experiences, research results, improvement projects and pedagogical initiatives that contribute to strengthening formative processes in diverse educational contexts.
