Translational Law constitutes an innovative approach that fosters dynamic interaction—characterized by strong feedback mechanisms—between theory and practice. It opens new avenues of dialogue connecting theoretical reflection, legal practice, and sociopolitical demands within the field of Law. The aim is to ensure constant theoretical innovation and a creative, proactive approach to addressing issues concerning the actual functioning of justice systems, considered from a dual perspective.
To this end, studies and research in Translational Law should contribute to addressing some of the following scientific challenges related to the construction and application of Law:
a) to what extent theoretical reflection has effectively influenced the work of legal professionals in their interventions, procedural actions and decisions;
b) to what extent legal practice has influenced and shaped—explicitly or implicitly—theoretical reflections, the legislative process, or the formulation and redesign of public policies affecting justice systems;
c) to what extent greater awareness of the potential of the theory-practice-theory interrelation—as a simultaneously academic and professional field—allows for the renewal and deepening of scientific legal knowledge, as well as greater effectiveness in defining new political, normative and professional or institutional horizons;
d) to what extent greater dialogue with the practical reality of Law (and, consequently, engagement with issues of urgent and crucial social importance) fosters a critical understanding—grounded in a more complex theory—of the functioning of legal institutions, while also opening new legal spaces for theoretical debate drawing on elements derived from the practical reality of Law.
