POLITICS, LITERATURE, FILM AND FORMS OF THOUGHT IN THE CONTEXT OF THE AMERICAS: A CRITICAL AND HOPEFUL VIEW

Regarding the role and importance that studies on Colombia and Latin America hold today, their current relevance is a constant invitation to review certain forms of expression made explicit in film, literature, politics, and the construction of original thought that may be understood as a search for philosophical, cultural, social and political elements that consolidate and/or generate identity and appropriation—both of traditions, culture, and forms of organization and participation, and of the events that govern and determine the present of our continent. Along these lines, this symposium is a constant invitation to reflect on the different relationships and tensions present in political thought, in narrative expression and uses of language, in film production, and in the ongoing search for forms of thought aimed at an authentic construction of our American being.

This academic space is a provocation for us to deepen our knowledge, clarify doubts, and present recent research or advances in a field, through contributions from experts who have devoted their lives to studies of the Americas and to those who delight in inhabiting this territory, or in learning from the ways of life that multiculturality and biodiversity offer us.
