THE DIGITAL BOARD: PUBLIC POLICY, LAW AND UNIVERSITY TRANSFORMATION IN THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has ceased to be a strictly technical matter and has become a central axis of political agendas and global regulatory frameworks. This symposium proposes to analyze, from Political Science and State Theory, the impact of the deployment of algorithmic technologies on two fundamental pillars of society: the legal system (Law) and the centers of knowledge production (the University).
From the perspective of Political Studies, the adoption of AI in judicial decisions and public administration redefines traditional notions of sovereignty, due process and the Principle of Accountability. At the same time, the University faces the dual challenge of regulating the use of these tools in civic education and leading critical research on data bias and ethics. This session calls on researchers to debate how public policies and institutional partnerships can guide the technological transition toward a model that guarantees fundamental rights, democratic transparency and social equity across the transatlantic and inter-American axis.
