Facing the current problems we confront as a society, it becomes necessary to reflect on the certainties, doubts and challenges that must be addressed in the face of the fallacies imposed as truths in our present-day society. This raises the following questions: What should be done, and under what criteria and values? What is it that should prevail because it is considered good? Which changes are ethically desirable? These questions are not limited to a single perspective; their complexity requires debate among different fields of knowledge, with a critical eye on the past and an open spirit toward the future.
Social, political and academic spheres, as spaces for discussion, have become showcases for freedom of expression that are one-sided and lack genuine listening; that is, there is no construction of genuine dialogue nor openness to engaging with the diversity of worldviews. Understanding that it is necessary to achieve integrated views on the social, political and cultural phenomena that concern us, this symposium aims to be a space for analyzing current problems in light of ethics which, as a philosophical discipline, allows for weaving new forms of understanding different realities, materializing actions, and maintaining an attitude of constant review.
This symposium is also open to theoretical discussions, as well as empirical work addressing any current problem from an ethical perspective in dialogue with other fields of knowledge, including historical analyses and projections on the use of new technologies, public policies, among others.
