Mexico is a federal republic, with a government elected through a suffrage system based on a liberal regime. Cuba is a republic based on a Marxist conception of the state and law. Puerto Rico, from the standpoint of the United States Constitution, is an unincorporated territory of that country, and from the standpoint of international law, it could be argued to be a colony.

This symposium explores, in a trans-ideological, comparative, and multidisciplinary manner, these three political realities, and how the sovereignty of the citizen and that of the state territory are conceived and managed within them. It also considers how this is manifested in the relationship between the state and the various civil and private sectors. It further analyzes how this affects the competitive capacity of Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico in areas such as: technological development, demographic variation, innovation, human capital, quality of life, education, health, entrepreneurship, trade, and governance.

The symposium will contextualize these three case studies within the new coordinates of the current global landscape, linking them to the relationship of the three countries analyzed with world hegemonic centers of politics and economics, such as the United States, China, Russia, Japan, and the European Union. Finally, it will establish conclusions and recommendations regarding strategic management policies for the governments, businesses, universities, and other civil sectors of Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, with significance beyond their borders.

[67
post-10780","simposio","type-simposio","status-publish","hentry","simposio_area-relaciones-internacionales-y-estudios-globales

SOVEREIGNTY AND COMPETITIVENESS IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE STATE AND PRIVATE SECTORS: THE CASES OF MEXICO, CUBA, AND PUERTO RICO - 59º Congreso Internacional de Americanistas

<meta property="og:description" content="Mexico, Cuba, and Puerto Rico have three different political models.
