SOCIO-TERRITORIAL INEQUALITIES AND THE PRODUCTION OF LATIN AMERICAN URBAN SPACES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STARTING FROM A CRITICAL PERSPECTIVE ON THE PROCESSES OF PRODUCTION OF URBAN SPACES, THIS SYMPOSIUM ARISES AS A PROPOSAL FROM THE EMERGING LATIN AMERICAN NETWORK ON REAL ESTATE DYNAMICS IN THE PRODUCTION OF LATIN AMERICAN SPACE-TIMES (REDILAT). INITIALLY FORMED BY RESEARCHERS FROM BRAZIL, CHILE, URUGUAY AND ARGENTINA, WE PROPOSE TO FOSTER AN ARTICULATION THAT CAN EXPAND TO OTHER RESEARCHERS AND UNIVERSITIES. THIS SYMPOSIUM THEREFORE HAS AS ITS CENTRAL AXIS THE COMPARATIVE UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROCESSES, LOGICS AND AGENTS THAT PRODUCE CITIES UNDER CONTEMPORARY CAPITALISM, WITHOUT DISPENSING WITH THE NECESSARY HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE, MULTISCALARITY, THE VECTORS THAT PRODUCE THEM (FROM THE GLOBAL TO THE LOCAL), AND THE INSTITUTIONAL AND SOCIAL DIMENSIONS SHAPED BY THE STATE, PRIVATE AGENTS AND SOCIAL MOVEMENTS.<br \/>\nWE PROPOSE THE FOLLOWING LINES OF DEBATE AND REFLECTION: 1) UPDATING THE THEORETICAL DEBATE ON LATIN AMERICAN URBAN TRANSFORMATIONS UNDER CONTEMPORARY CAPITALISM, CONSIDERING THEIR HISTORICAL, MULTISCALAR, INSTITUTIONAL AND SOCIO-TERRITORIAL DIMENSIONS; 2) THE CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE PROCESSES OF CITY PRODUCTION, IN THEIR SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL DIMENSIONS, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON REAL ESTATE DYNAMICS, ON THE DIFFERENTIATED FORMS OF VALORIZATION OF DWELLING AND OF THE CITY, AND THEIR SOCIO-TERRITORIAL EFFECTS; 3) UNDERSTANDING HOW THE CONTRADICTIONS OF CAPITAL, STATE ACTION AND THE STRATEGIES OF PRIVATE AND SOCIAL AGENTS ARE EXPRESSED IN THE APPROPRIATION, VALORIZATION AND DISPUTES OVER URBAN SPACE; 4) THE CONCEPTUALIZATION AND ANALYSIS OF THE INTERCONNECTION OF THE COMMERCIAL CIRCUITS OF LAND AND HOUSING, CONSIDERING THEIR FORMAL, INFORMAL, FINANCIAL, ETC., EXPRESSIONS.<br \/>\nFINALLY, IT IS SUBSTANTIVE FOR THIS SYMPOSIUM TO STRENGTHEN LATIN AMERICAN SCIENTIFIC-TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION ON THIS TOPIC, IN ORDER TO PROMOTE DISSEMINATION AND TRANSFER AS INPUTS FOR PUBLIC POLICIES AIMED AT MITIGATING SOCIO-TERRITORIAL INEQUALITIES, WITH DEMOCRATIC MANAGEMENT AND THE RIGHT TO THE CITY AS THE GUIDING HORIZON.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","simposio_area":[58],"class_list":["post-10595","simposio","type-simposio","status-publish","hentry","simposio_area-estudios-sociales-y-movimientos-sociales"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>TOWARD WHERE, AND FOR WHOM, ARE OUR CITIES BEING DIRECTED?
