The Latin American Network of Researchers on Global Commodity Chains (REDILACG) was created at ICA 55, held in 2015 in El Salvador, with prior work at ICA 54, Vienna, 2012, with the collaborating countries of El Salvador, Costa Rica and Mexico. Since then, we have worked on the topic of global value chains from different territories and experiences. Several books and articles have been published, creating international collaboration networks and science outreach events.<\/p>\n
In the current context, characterized by an international geopolitical reordering that is still underway and whose final configuration remains unclear, the decisions of the major actors in global value chains generate impacts at the territorial level, where the national links of these chains are located. Some key milestones of this reordering relate to trade policies, environmental policies, corporate decisions related to their environment, as well as the management of strategic inputs at the international level.<\/p>\n
These impacts are related not only to geographic location, but also have a significant impact on the economic growth and development of these communities. This raises the need to assess the response that, from the territories, is being given to this international scenario, both from the perspective of public policy, business management, and communities. Accordingly, the following areas of interest are proposed for the presentation of papers at this Symposium:<\/p>\n
1. Reconfiguration of territories, labor markets, and human capital.
\n2. Global Value Chains: a view from the territories.
\n3. Green regulations, Sustainability, and Climate Change.
\n4. Technology, digitalization, and Artificial Intelligence.
\n5. Public policies facing the changing international geopolitical environment.
