With a cross-cutting approach drawing on the social sciences, the humanities, law, collective health, and the arts, the event pursues a dual purpose: on one hand, to recover and make visible the historical memories of pioneering organizations from the 1970s through their consolidation in the 1980s and 1990s; on the other, to examine how these trajectories have contributed\u2014and continue to contribute\u2014to the construction and expansion of sexual citizenships in the region, understood as effective access to rights, bodily autonomy, the recognition of diversity, and participation without discrimination in public and private spheres.<\/p>\n<p>Through dialogue among academia, social activism, and citizenship, the symposium seeks to deepen the analysis of the contexts of authoritarianism, cisheteronormativity, and social inequalities that shaped these struggles. To this end, participants are invited to recover both the transnational networks of solidarity and the devices of public representation (marches, alternative press, community archives, artivisms), as well as the internal complexities and tensions of the movements.
