A symposium aligned with the guidelines of the international convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, aimed at addressing human diversity, equity and inclusion in a multisectoral manner, based on fair and dignified treatment. It proposes a space where people with and without disabilities, through papers grounded in theory, research or lived experience, present historical contextualization, advances, realities, setbacks, challenges and reflections from anthropology, urbanism, health, communication, human rights, education, psychology, gender and economic studies, and social movements, that dignify the human condition of people and populations with disabilities. Thematic areas to be addressed: inclusive education (experiences and trajectories) as a fundamental right that goes beyond purely research-based practices, encompassing school, didactic and pedagogical actions from childhood to adulthood; mental health and disability, from the standpoint of family, subjectivity, affectivity, social bonds, labor inclusion, sexuality, fatherhood and motherhood, as fundamental elements for the life process of people with disabilities, giving voice to singular experiences that reveal the connection with the mental health of people with disabilities and their families; disability, intersectionality and social justice (dialogues for inclusion and the exercise of rights), with challenges and advances related to guaranteeing people’s rights when other dimensions of human diversity intersect, such as gender, age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, rurality, and educational and labor trajectories; health aspects to understand how the social and biological perspectives are complementary, where disability is part of the spectrum of human functioning, and the right to and access to health should not be limited by the presence or absence of impairments, activity limitations or participation restrictions (health systems should not be barriers for people with disabilities); artificial intelligence and technological devices as potential and real tools that can promote broad inclusion across different sectors and accessibility to information, but with latent risks of homogenizing content, applications, and ways of interacting in virtual environments; and the design of inclusive spaces, environments and cities in which the environment acts as a facilitator or driver of human functioning, capable of dissolving physical barriers that create or maintain situations of disability. Disability is a multisectoral and essentially human issue, tied to the development and construction of our societies, tied to our conception of the body, but also to how we transform and appropriate our environment.
