This symposium proposes to articulate the persistences and legacies of the colonial gender order with the contemporary experiences of resistance emerging within the justice systems of the Americas. Taking as its starting point Mexico’s pioneering experience with the Protocol for Adjudicating with a Gender Perspective, as well as similar institutional guidelines implemented in countries such as Brazil, Bolivia, Uruguay and Argentina, the aim is to examine how coloniality operates within legal structures. The symposium seeks to provide fruitful exchanges on the limits, challenges and potentials of these political-institutional tools based on different realities and critical analyses. From this standpoint, the debate centrally incorporates an intersectional perspective, understanding that oppressions and asymmetries in access to justice materialize at the inseparable intersection of gender, race, ethnicity, class and territory. The dialogue is established with the Congress’s third thematic line, “the past always present,” aiming to historically trace the institutional violence reproduced by the state apparatus across Latin American territories while simultaneously making visible the praxis of confrontation that seek to fracture this reality. Papers in Portuguese and Spanish, from various fields of knowledge and methodological traditions, offering in-depth readings on confronting gender-based violence within justice systems, in light of decolonial theories, intersectionality, and gender-perspective adjudication protocols, will be accepted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","simposio_area":[52],"class_list":["post-10503","simposio","type-simposio","status-publish","hentry","simposio_area-derecho-y-derechos-humanos"],"yoast_head":"\n
