This symposium seeks to examine the multiple forms of cultural exchange and circulation between America and other latitudes, attending to transfer through travel. It thus proposes to explore the possibilities of travel as a practice of mobility and transfer that enabled the construction of representations and imaginaries through artistic, architectural and literary expression. Travel is addressed not only as geographic displacement but also as experiences that made possible the creation, adaptation and adoption of aesthetic repertoires, technical knowledge and references. Additionally, travel is explored, in its various nuances as academic training, exploration, exile, migration, professional practice or formative or leisure experience, as a mechanism for the configuration of intellectual networks that mobilized ideas and practices. In this sense, the symposium is interested in examining both the journeys of various agents from America to other territories and displacements toward America from different spaces, evidencing dynamics of cultural contact.
\nThis symposium invites reflection on the role of travel as an experience of creation, observation and a source of knowledge production. Travel accounts, diaries, chronicles, correspondence, artistic works, photographs, architectural projects and works, memoirs and visual or written records constitute privileged materials for understanding how views on territory, traditions, cultural heritage and alterity were constructed, evidencing processes of symbolic circulation.
\nContributions will be welcome addressing case studies, individual or collective trajectories, creative production, networks and processes of cultural exchange or circulation in the fields of art, architecture, literature, cultural heritage and visual culture, in order to understand how the memories of the Americas have also been shaped through travel, displacement and interaction with other cultural horizons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","simposio_area":[47],"class_list":["post-10371","simposio","type-simposio","status-publish","hentry","simposio_area-arte-y-estetica"],"yoast_head":"\n
